What Will Happen Next?

A probation or parole violation does not automatically mean a jail sentence. It depends upon your past relationship with your parole or probation officer, how long you’ve been on parole or probation, and how many past violations you have had. Sometimes the officer is more willing to work with a person when a lawyer calls to negotiate on their behalf.

Ask for a Hearing!

Gagnon I is a preliminary revocation hearing and Gagnon II is a final revocation hearing. You have a right to a hearing before your probation or parole is revoked. Many people don't know that and we frequently hear from people who were told in jail that they needed to sign a form but were never told they were giving up their rights.

Don't give up your right to that revocation hearing!
